Frank Richards is a professional bassist available for gigs & recording around Southern California. He currently resides in Los Angeles, where he maintains a regular schedule performing with a variety of bands. Frank grew up playing Classical Piano, favoring darker composers such as Chopin and Bartok, but fell in love with Rock and Pop music in his teens. He played guitar in a high school Beatles cover band, until he picked up the bass at age 15, which marked the beginning of a life long passion.Even though Frank was heavily influenced by bassists such as Marcus Miller, Mark King, Abe Laboriel, Jimmy Johnson etc., it was great songwriters and producers who ultimately caught his attention. Bands like Supertramp, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel and Tori Amos, along with songwriters like Larry John McNally, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Donald Fagen and Stephen Bishop made Frank realise something: All your great bass chops only get you so far, if your band's songwriting isn't happening ...Therefore, Frank loves any and all styles of music that connect to the audience with honesty and truthful emotion.On the other hand, Frank is just as much a huge fan of musical innovators, such as BT and similar artists, who break through barriers of convention, fusing modern technology with the traditional craft of music making. Frank never limits himself to a particular style, he is a passionate performer who's objective is to lay a solid foundation for the rest of the band, while being musically inspiring, and completely connected to everybody around him .
