The Ron Smolen Orchestra has been serving the Chicagoland area for over 35 years. For the last 25 years, our 10 piece orchestra has branched out and has performed in 18 states for events ranging from elegant Dinner Dances, Lavish Weddings, and Big Band Festivals, to State Fairs, Carnivals, and Gambling Casinos.
The Ron Smolen Orchestra is one of the last traveling Big Bands under the direction of a "Live" Personable leader. Some of the places they have performed at include: Theatres, Historic Ballrooms, Resorts and much more.
The Orchestra’s library is designed to play for Ballroom Dancing one night, and for a Jazz Club Concert the next night. We can transform any event into New Years’ Eve at the Waldorf in the memorable sweet sound of Guy Lombardo, and also provide plenty of Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, and Glenn Miller for those who prefer to " Swing " a little. And, since we perform for all ages, we carry an ample amount of "POP" tunes ranging from the 50’s and "Rock Around The Clock" to the 90’s and "Achy Breaky Heart".

Q) What is your rate
A) Rates are determined at the time of each event and vary by time and location.
Q) How much time do you usually need to set up?
A) Time varies - approx 30 - 60 minutes.
Q) How much space do you usually require?
A) A stage plan is provided with the contract at time of booking. Normally we need an area 20 feet wide and 15 feet deep
Q) What is your overtime rate?
A) This is something that is discussed at the time of booking.
Q) Do you charge for travel expenses?
A) This is a question that can only be answered at the time of booking. We normally drive private vehicles to all performances. There have been occasions that Clients had to charter a private coach for us. We have also been flown by clients to several locations. Travel arrangements, costs and any associated details are all pending on the location of the event, the distance and travel time allotment.
